rev_brown 2017Reverend Doctor Halliard Brown, Jr. is a native of Charlottesville, Virginia and is the only son of the late Halliard Brown, Sr. and Mrs. Jessie M. Stewart-Hill. He is a graduate of the Charlottesville public school system and has always been a true servant, entering into the United Sates Army in 1966. Rev. Brown retired from the army after 25 years in 1991 and from the United States Postal Service in 2005 after 11 years.
 Rev. Brown is married to the lovely Mary G. Brown, and together they are blessed with seven children and many grandchildren. Rev. Brown accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Saviour at an early age and was baptized at Zion Union Baptist Church in Charlottesville, VA. Being out of the church for some time, Rev. Brown rededicated himself to the Lord in April of 1998 at Mt Zion Baptist church Advance Mills VA.
  Rev. Brown was called to ministry in the year 2000, in which he gave his initial sermon the month of November of that year. A true man of God, Rev. Brown puts the Lord, family, Church, and education as his priorities. Rev. Brown attended the University of Maryland (European branch) in West Germany, and El Paso Community College in El Paso TX while in the Army. He has completed studies at Virginia Union University, Richmond, VA where he received his certificates in, Religious Studies, Proclamation Preparation, and Christian Education, from the Evans-Smith Leadership Training Institute of the Samuel De Witt Proctor School of Theology. Rev. Brown holds a Bachelor of Religion degree from the New Life Community School of Ministry and Bible Institute, Master of Biblical Counseling, and Doctor of Biblical Counseling degrees from Andersonville Theological Seminary.
   Rev. Brown was ordained in November of 2003 and accepted the call of God to pastor Zion Baptist Church, North Garden, VA in January 2004 and was installed as Pastor in April of that year. He currently serves as the First vice Moderator of the Piedmont District Baptist Association and is a member of the African American Pastors Counsel of Charlottesville VA and vicinity. He is a faculty member Fredericksburg Bible Institute & Seminary Madison County Campus where he is the site facilitator and teaches Apologetics and Biblical Studies. He is a member of the 100 Black Men of Central Virginia an organization empowering underprivileged boys through education and mentoring, and is a volunteer Bible teacher for the Good News Jail Ministry. Rev. Brown is on a quest from the Lord to “build the generation of them that seek Him” (Psalm 24:6). Rev. Brown always say, “I’ve come too far to turn around now.”
